Stephen and I spent the last week in Hong Kong, it was a much needed "vacation" from our "trip".. Seems silly that we would need one but we were both ready to spend some quality time together. It was green, hot and mountainous.. it really is a tropical Island that has been taken over by humans and huge buildings.
Everything is built up, they had double decker buses but not like ones in the States.. these ones are extreme! It was a little more congested but I somehow felt more at home there.
We saw some great stuff, we went to The Peak and ate at Bubba's Shrimp House (from Forrest Gump, it was the real deal). We saw a Kung-fu presentation that was pretty entertaining, took a tram up to the largest Buddha statue, went to Lama Island and swam... (a.k.a...cautiously walked through the maze of garbage) in the ocean. We hiked around and discovered multiple monster spider webs in which housed even more monster like spiders. They were everywhere and were cleverly right above our heads, well above my head and right about at Stephens forehead. Shame on him for being taller than the rest of us in China... The walk became a little less peaceful, however it did make us feel a bit more adventurous and hard core!
We did a lot of window shopping but no worries, we also purchased a couple of sweet items. ;) We were also able to fit in a couple of movies.. It was a good week to say the least.
We walked along the China "Walk of Fame" and got pictures with our hands in Jet Li and Jackie Chan's hand prints. Along this "walk" was a group of girls doing karaoke to.. wait for it... The Carpenters.. It almost brought a tear of joy to Stephen and my eyes. I think we both got a little home sick for our mom's. :) we had a moment of silence and than sang right along with them. We love you Joyce and Maureen!
We were also able to attend the Hong Kong Temple. It was incredible! We both really enjoyed being able atttend in China. Even though we were in a land that spoke nothing close to English, we were all feeling the same spirit and were there for the same reason. It was so comforting and just an all around amazing experience.

So awesome to see your pictures and hear about your adventures. I didn't know that Joyce was a Carpenter fan.....one more reason to like her. It looks beautiful there in Hong Kong, and so great that you got to go to the Temple. It really is true that the lanquage of the spirit is felt every where if we are open to it and in the right places. This whole experience will over before you know it so enjoy even the little everyday things. Love you both so much!!!! I truly love reading and seeing your life there. Life is good!!! Mom

I liked what you said about swimming. Sounds like you guys are having chunks of fun! I'm way jealous of the Jet Li and Jackie Chan thing, awesome!
i wanted a picture of the trashy ocean. :( no worries- i can imagine. glad you guys got a little get away time. Love what you said about the temple. It is so nice to know that wherever the church is -it can feel like home
yikes about the spiders!! i would hate to accidentally walk into that! you guys are having way too much fun! cant wait till you get back here and we can plan some boating trips! nobody else wants to go, so you and stephen are welcome any time!
